Dear readers, dear Lee enthusiasts and scholars,
welcome to the new Sibyl!
Launched with the precious help of David C. Rose and Steven Halliwell as part of the Oscholars group of journals, The Sibyl, Journal of Vernon Lee Studies, is now turning into a full-blown e-journal, blog, and soon website.
Nothing would have been possible without David’s advice and support, without Federica Paretti’s unfailing help, and Gilles Pasquet’s passion, to whom we are all indebted for the fantastic evolution in the field of Lee studies. My sincere thanks to Nicolas Hesnard and to Emmanuel Marcadé for their patient and generous help with the puzzling technical aspects of the present endeavour. My warmest thanks to Agnes Deleforge. And, last but not least, my everlasting admiration and gratitude to Miss Geneviève Noufflard, for sharing our passion for Miss Paget’s friends, for accompanying us in our quest for past and present keys, and for guiding us through a labyrinth of wonders.
My apologies to contributors and readers who, owing to causes totally out of my control, were kept waiting for so long for this issue, the 5th one.
“The web of our life is of a mingled yarn”… May all the misfortunes of 2011 turn into miraculous rebirths in 2012!
